Volvo Construction Equipment used its international press conference at the Intermat 2012 exhibition in Paris to reiterate the company’s pledge to customers – recently demonstrated by its expansion of production facilities and distribution networks in Europe and North America. He also outlined investments in other international markets and announce the introduction of over 60 new products globally during 2012.</div>

President and chief executive Pat Olney began the press conference by highlighting the generally improving – albeit uncertain – trading conditions, both in the European market and globally. These brightening prospects were mirrored by improvements in Volvo Construction Equipment’s own fortunes, which in 2011 saw sales increase by 21%, a record 84,000 machines  sold and the company becoming market leader in the important Chinese wheel loader and excavator market.</div>

Mr. Olney (pictured) used the press conference to announce the introduction of over 60 new products to the range in 2012. In addition to the 55 new products that were launched in 2011, together these equate to the most fundamental overhaul of the company’s product portfolio ever. He also underscored Volvo’s technological leadership, by emphasising the company’s success in launching its fuel efficient Stage IIIB/Tier 4i emissions compliant range of engine systems. These products will go some way to helping the company achieve its WWF Climate Savers commitment of reducing CO2 emissions from its machines sold between 2009 and 2014 by 15 million tonnes.<br style="outline-color: initial; outline-style: none; outline-width: initial;" /><br style="outline-color: initial; outline-style: none; outline-width: initial;" />Mr Olney took the opportunity to discuss Volvo CE’s investment program at its European factories and the expansion of its European distribution network. Russia features in both aspects, with excavator production set to begin in 2013 from a new factory in Kaluga, while the dealer network in Russia is set to double by 2015, to 90 locations (up from today’s 45). He also gave updates on the progress of on-going investments in India, Brazil and China, where capacity and product expansion programs are strengthening Volvo’s ability to serve its growing customer populations. (Volvo CE has been the market leader for excavators and wheel loaders in China, together with its joint venture partner SDLG, since 2011.)</div>

Caterpillar Adds New CB14B Utility Roller to the Paving Products Machine Family

to the Paving Products machine family. The new CB14B is designed for compaction
of asphalt and other granular materials. The CB14B is a 1.5-ton utility roller
available with 900 mm (35”) or 1000 mm (39") tandem vibratory drums. It
offers excellent comfort, simple operation, good traction, and a reliable water
spray system. Their size and weight make them highly mobile and easy to
transport. Typical applications include
bike paths, courtyards, patchwork, parking lots, driveways, town

●SANY’s concrete pump is equipped with both a camera and a radiation sensor to monitor radiation levels at the power station. Currently the pump is running flawlessly.<br /><br />●Before disassembly and containment of the machine itself, the SANY pump may dispense the sand and concrete used to bury the reactor.<br /><br />For the past year, Sany’s red and yellow concrete pump truck has continuously scanned the Fukushima nuclear reactor for radiation contamination. As the sun rose on March 11, 2012, the truck’s on-board cameras and radiation sensors performed their duty diligently.<br /><br />“I believe our trusty friend the ‘Big Giraffe’ will continue to complete her mission,” remarked Mr. Wada, an employee of the Tokyo Electric Power Company, as he gazed from afar.<br /><br />Exactly one year ago, a magnitude 9.0 earthquake shook the ocean floor near Japan. The ensuing disruption of the ground and the tsunami that followed caused nuclear radiation to leak from the Fukushima Nuclear Power Station. <br />   <br />As employees of Tokyo Electric Power Company, 45-year-old Mr. Sakai and 36-year-old Mr. Wada felt they had a duty to participate in the rescue efforts. Even as the crisis worsened, many were saved from the disaster.<br /><br />Fortunately, SANY Heavy Industry devoted a 62-meter concrete pump truck for use at the site, where the truck has been used to spray water on the reactor. Since arriving, SANY’s pump truck has earned the nickname “Big Giraffe.” She arrived just in time to avoid the meltdown of the No. 1 reactor.<br /><br />“Many Japanese people express their thanks to SANY, and when we visit customers, they often bow in thanks”, said Yang Binglong, deputy general manager of SANY Japan. <br />      <br />At the end of March, 2011, Mr. Sakai and Mr. Wada saw the Big Giraffe for the first time. After only two days of training, the two began operating the pump and spraying water on the reactors as the cooling systems were gradually brought back online.  <br /><br />Since then, the pump has stood ready in case the cooling systems failed again, and the Big Giraffe uses its on-board radiation sensor and camera to monitor the area 24 hours per day.<br /><br />Mr. Sakai and Mr. Wada often come to visit the Big Giraffe, but they must gaze from outside the safety zone because their two months at the site exposed them to unsafe levels of radiation.<br />

guarding is purpose built to protect major components and systems, and
specially engineered components are designed to resist damage in industrial
applications. For example, narrow, steel front fenders fit close to the frame
to help avoid damage, and the bottom and rear access steps in the industrial
loader package are suspended by heavy-duty steel cable.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

protect the underside of the front half of the machine. These guards prevent
debris accumulation and damage to major components such as the drive shaft and
lift cylinders. Protecting the underside of the rear half of the machine, belly
guards prevent debris build-up and damage to major components such as the
engine and transmission. The industrial package includes a hinged power train
guard and an optional, powered guard for allowing easy access to remove debris.
Axle seal guards provide protection from wire or other debris that could wrap
around the axle and damage axle seals. <o:p></o:p></span></div>

<span lang="EN-US">The optional heavy-duty
radiator guard provides additional rear machine protection. The guard is hinged
for easy access to the airborne debris screen and cooling cores. To allow the
customer to choose the amount of protection needed, three different optional
guard designs are available to help protect the cab glass. There are two front
windshield guard options and a full cab glass guard available. Guards also are
provided to shield the front, rear and roading lights from debris damage.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

by enclosing the frame to reduce debris entry. Steering cylinder guards keep
debris off, and sliding tilt cylinder guards provide protection from airborne
debris and from material spilling from the bucket.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

pitch fan enables changing blade pitch to switch the direction of air flow. The

that simply reverses fan rotation, and the system more thoroughly expels debris

are a solid, ported design for flat-proof operation in severe applications.
Each tire features elliptical holes (ports) molded through the outer ring of
the sidewall for more flexibility than a traditional solid tire. The result is less
operator fatigue and less stress on the machine. The second generation Flexport
tires feature improved, high quality rubber compounds for longer wear. In
addition to the treaded design for unimproved surfaces, a smooth tread design
is now available for enhanced durability in severe applications. The Flexport
tire is a complete assembly of rubber and wheel, which makes it quick and easy
to install a new set of tires. Caterpillar’s current Flexport system is
available on the 950K, 962K, 966K and 972K.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

are not required. A general purpose (GP) bucket is generally smaller, stronger, and has hardened<br />
side cutters and teeth used to break through hard ground and rocks. Buckets have numerous shapes<br />
and sizes for various applications. There are also many other attachments which are available to<br />
be attached to the excavator for boring, ripping, crushing, cutting, lifting, etc.</div>

Before the 1990s, all excavators had a long or conventional counterweight that hung off the rear<br />

There are two main types of "Control" configuration generally use in excavators to control the<br />
boom and bucket, both of which spread the four main digging controls between two x-y joysticks.<br />
This allows a skilled operator to control all four functions simultaneously. The most popular<br />
