CHANGSHA, CHINA, May 25, 2012 - SANY Heavy Industry is pleased to announce that a SANY SCC4000 crawler crane has successfully completed assembly of the final turbine at the Ethiopian Electric Power Company’s ADAMA wind power project. Chinese Ambassador to Ethiopia Xie Xiaoyan and Ethiopian State Finance Minister Ahmed Shide gathered with other leaders to witness the historic moment.
At noon, ADAMA’s project manager began giving instructions for the operation, and 15 minutes later, the blades docked perfectly with the 1.5-megawatt nacelle. The SANY SCC4000, known as the number one crane in China, used 84 meters of boom with 9 meters of fixed jib to complete the lift.
Total installed capacity at the 34-turbine site is 51 megawatts, and the project is the first wind farm in Ethiopia to use Chinese technology, equipment and project management. The wind farm is located in the harsh highlands of eastern Africa, where the SANY SCC4000 displayed superb stability and reliability.
